Even as you sit here, browsing our site, trying to decide if our remote services or our on site tech support is best for you, there is a raging war going on right in front of you.
The war may not be visible to the everyday Internet browser, but as we speak there is a hacker war going on all the way into the depths of the inter-webs. Except in this war, instead of traditional gun-fighting, it is all about good-hacker bad-hacker, both trying to outsmart the other.
Hackers are commonly misconceived as some insignificant little punky nerds who like to sit in their dark, sweaty rooms and mess up people’s computers. But in reality, “Hackers” are some of the smartest people in our society, and are responsible for not only the development of, but also the maintaining and security of every computer oriented system you rely upon, for example: Your Bank. Your Bank’s ATMs, your home Wi-Fi network, your local power grid, and ultimately, the security of the entire nation.
With all the recent advances in technology, hacking and software tampering has been escalated to a new level that is changing the face of modern warfare. In fact, earlier this year in May, the U.S. Government launched the United States Cyber Command. The Cyber Command, or USCYBERCOM, is not your typical section of the Armed Forces, because rather than being armed with weapons, it’s online soldiers are armed with information, and who knows how to stop foreign governments hacking attacks to the US better than hackers themselves? That’s right, our government has an army of hackers.

But the government isn’t the only organization of hackers with a mission to protect us, the consumers. The Black Hat Conference is a conference where hackers and software developers convene to discuss ideas and present problems and their solutions to other prominent figures in the field.
For example, at this year’s conference, Barnaby Jac, spoke on a hack for ATM machines, which he demonstrated up on stage. He proved that with a simple hack it was possible to take control of an ATM and have it spit out hundreds and hundreds of dollars with the press of a button. Read the story here…
