Cell phones have been able to take pictures for a long time now. Whether you still have an older beater flip cell phone or a slick smartphone you can most likely take pictures in some shape or form. But an even bigger question than whether you take pictures is what you are going to do with that picture when you are done taking the photo. Many folks will snap a photo and just let it sit in their phone’s memory were it might simply be forgotten. Well, Make It Work wants you to keep these photos, to share them and appreciate them. So don’t feel like you can’t get your photos, because we can help!
Picture Messaging
A common way that people transfer photos from their cell to their computers is by picture messaging. It works pretty much the same as text messaging; you just have to have text messaging enabled on your cell.
Note: Expect this method to be a little different for various phone models, but the following directions are pretty basic and similar for all phones.
If you would like to send a picture to another person’s device or if you want to email a picture to a friend or even to yourself, go to:
Menu -> Media Gallery -> Pictures. At this point, you can pick the photo you’d like to send. -> Options-> Send in Message -> Contacts -> OK -> Send
You can also send text with the picture if you would like. If you end up emailing the picture to someone, you will just have to type in their email address and they will get it in their Inbox. You just need to make sure the person you’re sending the picture to has picture capabilities too.

Data Cable
Another way you can transfer photos to other people is to put them directly onto your computer, so you can email them to your friends or save them to your hard drive. To do this, you have to have some sort of a USB cable, once you have your device and computer connected, you can start transferring the pictures. Keep in mind that some of these cables are phone specific, so you need to make sure that you get one that will be compatible with your phone model.
Bluetooth
One way to send pictures on your device is with Bluetooth, a wireless technology. Bluetooth works with short-range wireless tech that allows you to send photos from your phone to a laptop or desktop computer. The computer you are sending them to just has to be equipped to accept the pictures.
The most difficult (but it can sometimes be fairly easy) part about Bluetooth is matching the phone to the computer, so they are both compatible with each other. But, once that it is done, sending the images couldn’t be easier. If computer is equipped with Bluetooth then you should have no problem following its instructions to pair your phone and being transferring photos.
As long as your cell has Bluetooth on it, you can send the images without any extra charges billed to you. You can also send photos to other Bluetooth users’ device without any wires or additional charges.
Email
Another way for you to send pictures between your friends and family is to email them. Your cell phone has to have email capabilities for this to work, but a lot of the phones these days come with the ability to email. You can email them to other people or, as mentioned above, to yourself. You just have to type the email address in the To: field just like you would if you were using any regular email.
Removable Memory Cards
Another way of transferring photos is via an external memory card for your device. Most phones now just come with a slot for the card that can be purchased at any computer store, if you don’t already have one. You may need to purchase an external memory card reader so it will all work, but it’s one of the easiest ways to go if you take pictures with your cell.
When you have the card reader, either an external one or a built in one in your computer, you just remove the memory card from your phone, insert it into the reader and your computer will recognize it as another drive. You can then drag and drop the photos wherever you want them to go. Just one more reminder: all of these applications work differently with different phones, so make sure you refer to your phone’s manual before doing anything you’re not sure of.
Making sure you have all your cell phone photos is a great way to hold onto memories. I know that before I got my latest phone I lost all of my photos because I didn’t take the time and put them on my computer. Thankfully though as you update your phone, technology is improving rapidly to make saving photos easier than ever.
