Apple Jailbreak is now LEGAL?
Jay freeman joined Make It Work to discuss all things iPhone. Jailbreaking was obviously spoken about but, but more specifically “saurik” spoke about the legality of jaibreaking. The Library of congress redefined and clarified a an already existing law, which now establishes that one may jailbreak an iPhone.
Congress rethinks its ban on Internet Gambling
A new bill on the federal level has recently surfaced in regards to internet gambling. The House Financial Services Committee approved a bill to legalize online poker and other non-sports betting. This new bill allows the treasury department to license and regulate internet gambling. This opens the IRS up to tax internet gambling. Due to the ban, these gambling sites where driven off shore, taking that money with them. The potential money that could be made with such a bill passing could reach the 42 billion mark over ten years.
YouTube Raises Video Length Limit to 15 Minutes
YouTube has raised the upload limit! The new limit is 15 min, up from 10min. The reason for the original cap was to prevent uploads of copyrighted tv shows and movies, to keep bandwidth usage lower, and keep streaming speed quick. However, this is becoming less problematic so the cap was increased. Youtube has new Conetent ID systems that prevent copyrighted material from being posted, or staying on youtube very long. This will also help YouTube leanback gain traction aswell.
Oldest Twitter User Ivy Bean Dies at 104
Ivy Bean, the oldest Twitter user dies at the age of 104. With the twitter handle ivybean104 she gained over 50,000 followers. She was frequent with her tweets and videos of her daily activities. She also had many prominent accomplishments outside of her vitality. She won a Gold Medal in Frisbee in the Over-75 Olympics, she had many wonderful cooking recipes, and meet former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Ivy Bean’s story goes to show you that everyone can use twitter.
Amazon – getting desperate?
Amazon is coming out with two new kindles this time around, a $139 Wi-Fi only version and a $189 Wi-Fi/3G version. The new Kindles will boast improved e-ink for 50% better contrast, to make reading even easier on the eyes. Both kindles will have 6-inch viewing areas. Both models are lighter and faster than previous versions, and boast 20% faster page turns. Amazon has also stated that by 2011 ebooks will outsell paperbacks. The combination of new pricing and a niche they still hold despite the iPad, this may be just what Amazon needs to grab more sales.

ATMs at Risk
One security researcher informed ATM companies like Tranax , Triton, and others that skilled hackers with the right tools have designed methods to take over the onboard computers of ATMs. With simply a USB drive hackers have been able to steal cash and copy customers’ ATM card data. These are the types of ATM’s that can be found at 7-11s and any other places that have “rent-an-ATM.” So keep this in mind and use only your bank ATM’s!
Rogue Android Apps steals user data
In a recent blow to android security, an app has been identified that steals personal information. Such information can include phone numbers, subscriber ID, and possibly even your voicemail password. The apps in question are made by Jackeey Wallpapers. The apps with potential risks have been downloaded upwards of four million times. So the lesson here is to always know what you are downloading and not to go over-board with customization.
New Facebook Scam
Yet another Facebook scam has hit and it wants to steal your personal information. This new scam plays upon people’s willingness to view “shocking videos” or attract people that want to fight for a cause. If you click on the link in the message you’ll go to rogue Facebook application that makes you fill out a bogus survey that steals your personal data. So don’t click those links, and don’t fall for things that look suspicious.

The best way to fix this issue is by using the “MSCONFIG.” MSCONFIG allows one to view all programs that start up with windows when you turn your computer on. International Data plans (on any carrier) can be expensive, but are worth it when you prevent the thousands of dollars you can spend when traveling. The iPhone is also quad-band, so it can go everywhere! iPhone also has an awesome Skype app that you can make free calls over WiFi and cheap VoIP calls everywhere else.
