Here is part two of today’s coverage on the exciting Apple event “Back to the Mac.”
Mac OS X Lion Features Enhanced Multitouch
Apple’s newest OS update, Mac OS X Lion, will feature many more multitouch capabilities like the current iOS seen on iPads, iPod Touches, and of course the iPhone. Using devices like the Magic Trackpad and the Magic Mouse, Lion users will be able to conduct a more natural flow in their everyday computer use through swipes and gestures. All these will be centralized in the new feature called Mission Control.
Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs made it clear that touch capabilities for a desktop computer is best done on a horizontal orientation. This can allow us to safely conclude that you will not be seeing an Mac with a touch display any time soon.
MacBook Air Redesign
The culminating feature at the “Back to the Mac” event was the unveiling of the new MacBook Air. This new line features an 11.6-inch model and a larger 13.3-inch model. Pricing for the 13.3-inch model will start at $1,299, compared to just $999 for the 11.6-inch MacBook Air.

Both models will include:
Another beautiful note: Both models of the Macbook Air are available for sale today!
There you have it, the highlights from today’s Apple event “Back to the Mac.” The features that we have highlighted for you today all indicate one thing: Apple recognizes the success of their portable iOS devices and has retooled their computer hardware and software to follow in that success.
