For those who are less enthusiastic about the iPhone 4S, today AT&T announced the addition of five new Android Gingerbread smartphones to their service. That’s a total of 12 new phones since the beginning of the year, bringing their total Android count up to 19.
The new phones include Motorola Atrix 2, Samsung DoubleTime, Samsung Captivate Glide, Pantech Pocket, abd AT&T Avail for pre-paid customers. In an attempt to give potential Android customers more choices and price points, the five phones represent a new variety of experience options.

Motorola Atrix 2: As the favorite phone of the new bunch, the lightly upgraded Atrix boasts a 4.3 inch screen, a 1 GHz dual-core processor, and an 8-megapixel camera with HD video capabilities with an additional front-facing camera, among other features.
Samsaung Captivate Glide: Complete with a QWERTY keyboard, the Glide also has a 4 inch screen with a 1 GHz processor, an 8-megapixel camera (with an additional video chat camera), and 1 GB of RAM, making it also impressive.
Samsung DoubleTime: For people looking for a unique smartphone alternative, DoubleTime offers dual screens and a full QWERTY keyboard, without many standout features.
Pantech Pocket: Running Android 2.3, the Pocket has a 4 inch screen and 5-megapixel camera, with a particularly wide shape.
AT&T Avail: If you’re the non-committal type, you may want to check out the Avail. With a 3.5 inch screen and a 5-megapixel camera, it’s a pretty standard device.
Personally, I still enjoy my iPhone, but as an AT&T customer, having 19 Android smartphones to choose from is not too shabby. In a month that seems particularly dominated by Apple, we’re glad to see that AT&T has not forgotten about everyone else.
