Since we have apps for just about everything these days, why not use them to monitor our health? Check out the following apps to monitor your health on-the-go.
At CES (the big technology trade show in Vegas every year) this year, iHealth previewed it’s iPhone-connected blood glucose monitor.
Soon diabetics will have the ability to measure their blood glucose levels directly on an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, using the iHealth Smart GlucoMeter.
By attaching a small interface unit to the Apple doc connector, and using an industry-standard test strip in the device, users can take a blood sample. The results from the blood sample are then calculated using a free downloadable app.
This app graphically charts results over 7-, 14- and 30-day time frames. After the results are graphed, The results can also be sent to caregivers and healthcare professionals.
The company also displayed a wireless body fat scale that connects to your Apple device through Wi-Fi, and a blood pressure dock that connects with a wireless Bluetooth cuff for more comfortable blood pressure readings.
Pricing has yet to be determined for these products, but they should be available in the later half of 2012.
